Cardiff Restaurants

Cardiff is home to many restaurant styles, with world, UK and European cuisines all well represented. While you're in the city you'll have a great choice in terms not only of food types, but also budget. If you're looking for good value you'll certainly find it, but there are some incredible premier eating establishments in town too.

Welsh

While you're in Wales it makes good sense to sample some authentic Welsh cuisine, and there are plenty of outlets looking to accommodate you to do just that. Le Gallois on Romilly Crescent around Cathedral Road is a thrilling experience. Welsh produce and foodstuffs are presented through a continental lens, with results that demonstrate an impressive creative vision. The Armless Dragon on Wyeverne Road has a thoroughly well deserved reputation for trailblazing, having played a key role in the development of today's modern Welsh dining styles.

European

There are of course numerous great European cuisines, from French and Spanish to Italian and even Turkish, and in Cardiff you can have a taste of virtually any of them. Champers on St Mary Street is a truly Spanish affair, with great wines and wonderful tapas galore. If you like Italian food, have a look at Da Venditto on Park Place within the Civic Centre development, a place that seems to be both classic and contemporary at the same time. Ask on Wyndham Arcade is of course a chain restaurant, but a reliable place for good value family meals. Bosphorous on Mermaid Quay combines a stunning location with a wide selection of tasty Turkish meals.

Asian

Asian cuisine encompasses a lot of diverse elements, including Thai, Chinese and Japanese. If you're into something eastern for your dinner, Cardiff's restaurants will be happy to provide you with it. Bali lies on Caroline Street in the Old Brewery area of the city, and serves uplifting Indonesian dishes with a friendly face. Ba Orient on Mermaid Quay is an excellent spot to enjoy some quality dim sum in a truly oriental environment. The Riverside Cantonese on Tudor Street is an upbeat, fashionable place in which to sample some impressive authentic dishes. Zushi on Queen Street is an extremely fashionable place well known within Wales, and with great value dishes. Thai House Restaurant on Guildford Crescent is the oldest Thai restaurant in Wales, and when you sample it you'll instantly see why it's survived so well.

Indian

Everyone likes a good curry, and when you're in Cardiff you'll have no trouble finding one. The Cinnamon Tree on Kings Road blends traditional dishes with a modern flair and twist, an irresistible combination. Juboraj II on Mill Lane presents fantastic Indian and Bangladeshi options in an upmarket environment. If you're a vegetarian or are travelling with one, the Vegetarian Food Studio on Penarth Road is a wonderful place to sample Gujarati dishes.

This selection really doesn't scratch the surface, for Cardiff has a very large number of restaurants catering to the incredible variety of people who pass through the city on a daily basis.
